abc-Wednesday, Round 6 / Alphabe-Thursday - M - "M as in marble and mother-of-pearl"

It's Wednesday today and time to continue our rambles through the alphabet. This week, both abc-Wednesday, round 6, as well as Mrs. Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday, have the letter "M".

My "M"-words are marble and mother-of-pearl. At the heading is a mortar and pestle made of marble, and here are some examples of marblization used in book-binding.

Here are an array of genuine mother-of-pearl buttons:

Best wishes,
Anna

Mother of pearl on music! LOL!

I love the marbling they used to do on books. Such a pity they don't take the trouble anymore.

On behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday this week!

(I'd love you to visit my blog, but it's down at the moment because my host server was hacked. Should be back tomorrow - they're working on it)

I LOVE the book too! When you marbleize the binding, do the pages become discolored?

You are Mega creative!!

Very interesting post, I did not know that was mother-of-pearl even though I've seen it many times. Also, I really like that marble mortar and pestle. I have a very plain wooden one that I use all the time, but the marble looks really nice and probably wouldn't absorb smells like the wooden one.
